The Wildcats season came to a heartbreaking close with a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Notre Dame. With a win, the Wildcats would have made the conference play-offs. With the loss, their season ends at 7-8-1 overall and 5-5-1 in the AMC.
Notre Dame scored first as Katie Christensen got a cross from Breanne Hunter in the 14th minute and gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The score stayed that way until Daemen tied it up 15:38 into the second half. Kelsey O'Leary dribbled up the middle and fired the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the goal. Daemen kept the pressure up and outshot ND 15-7 during the second half. Both teams would remain scoreless the rest of the way, however, until Lauren Acker drove a shot from the middle up high over the keepers head for the winning goal 2:57 into the second overtime.
For the game the Wildcats held a 24-15 advantage in shots. Marisa Alfieri had six saves for Daemen.
Today seniors Hayley Drews and Molly Saltino played in their last game for the Wildcats.
Hayley Drews is a former honorable-mention 'All-AMC' selection. She has four goals and four assists during her career. Hayley has been a starter since her freshman year. She was named a team captain for 2009. Hayley is a Dean's List student and a physical therapy major. Her parents are Gary and Julie.
Molly Saltino has been a starter for the Wildcats the past two years. She has two goals and five assists during her career. Molly was named a team captain for 2009. She is a Dean's List student and a math education major. Her parents are Joe and Debbie,
